Medical Director/Responsible Officer

About Me

I have been a Consultant Renal Physician at University Hospitals Birmingham since 2007, with specialist interests in Chronic Kidney Disease, Haemodialysis, and Diabetic Kidney Disease. Over the course of my career, I have held several senior leadership roles, including Clinical Director of Renal Medicine, Associate Medical Director at Solihull Hospital, and Divisional Medical Director at University Hospitals Birmingham, overseeing a range of medical and surgical specialties. I bring significant experience in clinical leadership, appraisal and revalidation, mentoring, and clinical governance.

My postgraduate medical training was completed in the North West of England, followed by higher specialty training in the South West. I am a Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians of London and Edinburgh. I also hold an MBA from Keele University, which has deepened my understanding of medical leadership theory and practice, and I have completed the NHS Leadership Academy’s Nye Bevan Fellowship for Executive Leadership Development.

I am deeply committed to delivering high-quality, safe patient care and strongly advocate for a robust clinical governance framework. I am particularly focused on providing tailored appraisals, mentoring, and support to help doctors realise their full potential.
