Experience
In the UK, I worked at centres like Harefield Hospital and completed the West Midlands training programme. I spent time doing clinical work at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic under the chairmanship of Dr. Delos Cosgrove. I work as a Consultant adult cardiac surgeon at the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire. I also have practising privileges at the Circle Health Group’s Meriden Coventry and Priory in Birmingham, along with HCA Harborne Hospital Birmingham. I have research interests with publications in peer-reviewed journals. My M.Ch work was on Atrial Myxomas. I’m an avid teacher and am involved with teaching and training juniors. I am a GMC-accredited trainer. Charity is very close to my heart. I have travelled to developing countries performing heart surgeries through Cardiostart International, a US-based charity. This has taken me to countries like Peru, Romania and the West African country Ghana.
I have special interests in coronary artery disease, arterial grafting and beating heart surgery, as well as valvular heart disease and valve surgery — especially aortic root, ascending aortic and aortic arch surgery.
I am a senior, trained appraiser, conducting appraisals for colleagues within my workplace. I also work as an independent appraiser for Pertemps Medical.
