Dr Vijayan Suresh has been a Consultant Renal Physician at University Hospitals Birmingham since 2007, with specialist interests in chronic kidney disease, haemodialysis and diabetic kidney disease. Over the course of his career, he has held several senior leadership roles, including Clinical Director of Renal Medicine, Associate Medical Director at Solihull Hospital, and Divisional Medical Director at University Hospitals Birmingham, overseeing a range of medical and surgical specialties. He brings significant experience in clinical leadership, appraisal and revalidation, mentoring, and clinical governance.

Dr Suresh completed his postgraduate medical training in the North West of England, followed by higher specialty training in the South West. He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians of London and Edinburgh. He also holds an MBA from Keele University, strengthening his understanding of medical leadership theory and practice, and has completed the NHS Leadership Academy’s Nye Bevan Fellowship for Executive Leadership Development.
