Who are we?
At the Appraisal & Revalidation Alliance, we bring over 50 years of combined experience supporting doctors across all grades within the independent healthcare sector and the NHS. Our longstanding relationship with the NHS ensures we understand the complexities of appraisal and revalidation, providing a seamless, fully supported process.

Our Background
The Appraisal & Revalidation Alliance was founded in response to long‑standing challenges experienced by doctors with “tick box” and unsupportive appraisal experiences.
The ARA was established to provide robust, supportive and GMC‑aligned appraisal and revalidation services for doctors working in the independent sector, with portfolio careers, working across healthcare systems and national boundaries.
Our leadership was brought together to combine a system‑level understanding of appraisal and revalidation with the very real challenges and opportunities of practical and well-run holistic appraisals - meaningful, insightful and constructive for doctors –supporting their care for patients.
In this way we recognise appraisal and revalidation beyond their vital regulatory function - as critical components of professional assurance, reflective practice and patient safety – key for healthcare systems to function and evolve with the changing needs of healthcare and patient expectations.
The ARA’s approach follows our leaderships commitment to high‑quality clinical governance, robust yet proportionate assurance and digitally enabled processes that reduce burden while maintaining the high standards we all expect – all to support the betterment of doctors, the medical profession and of course those we all care for – our patients.
