Dr Rajiv Sharma is the Co-Founder of The Appraisal & Revalidation Alliance (TheARA) and a senior healthcare executive, system medical leader and practising physician with extensive experience across integrated care systems, national advisory roles and the independent healthcare sector.

Dr Sharma co-founded The Appraisal & Revalidation Alliance in response to long‑standing challenges experienced by doctors working outside traditional employment models. Drawing on his experience as a senior medical leader, and practising clinician, TheARA was established to provide robust, supportive and GMC‑aligned appraisal and revalidation services for doctors working in the independent sector, with portfolio careers, working across healthcare system and national boundaries.

His leadership reflects a system‑level understanding of appraisal and revalidation - recognising them not simply as regulatory requirements, but as critical components of professional assurance, reflective practice and patient safety – key for the system to function and evolve with the changing needs of healthcare. TheARA’s approach mirrors Dr Sharma’s commitment to high‑quality clinical governance, robust yet proportionate assurance and digitally enabled processes that reduce burden while maintaining standards.
