Dr Christopher Boyson

My name is Dr Christopher Boyson and I currently live and work in the West Midlands, having moved from Birmingham to Warwick in the last few years. I completed my medical undergraduate at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. After foundation training I spent six months working as a resident doctor in Perth, Australia followed by six months as a clinical teaching fellow at the University of Birmingham.

My Experience

I completed my GP training in the Black Country, where I became a salaried GP for several years. I have pursued at career in medical education and leadership whilst continuing to practice as a sessional GP. I completed my Masters in Medical Education in 2024, where I achieved merit and currently enjoy working in a number of different roles.

In addition to being a GP trainer, I have two Training Programme Director roles for NHS WT&E, where I oversee Foundation GP placements across the whole of the West Midlands, as well as look after the GP VTS programme in East Birmingham and Solihull. I work as an appraiser for both NHS England and in the independent sectors. I also work for the GMC as an Associate in several capacities. I am a member of the Royal Collage of General Practitioners and have recently been appointed as an examiner for the collage. I also achieved fellow status for the Higher Education Academy.  I work for Coventry and Warwickshire Training Hub, as part of the Integrated Care Board, where I act as an advocate for sessional GPs.

I volunteer my time as the medical adviser to the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, which is a great honour.

Outside of work my hobbies include cricket, cooking, travelling and house music!
